The Green Hangover

I currently reside in an apartment on the bank of the Chicago River. The river is of course made famous each year when it is dyed green as part of the celebration surrounding St Patrick's Day. The dyeing occurs where the river and Michigan Avenue intersect, which is actually about a half mile east of my apartment.

It is now Sunday morning and the green dye has begun to migrate down river. Eventually the dye will fade and the river's color will return to normal. As the concentration fades away, I can't help but think of the similarities between the river's transformation and that of the green clad binge drinkers. They too are heading back to a state of equilibrium.
